About the show
A humorous and heartfelt duet about love, loss and longevity.
With Lost Dog’s unique blend of dance, theatre and comedy this duet reveals the real story of Romeo and Juliet. It turns out they didn’t die in a tragic misunderstanding, they grew up and lived happily ever after. Well, they lived at least.
Now they’re in their 40s, at least one of them is in the grips of a mid-life crisis, and they feel constantly mocked by their teenage selves and haunted by the pressures of being the poster couple for romantic love.
To confront their current struggles, they have decided to put on a performance — about themselves. Their therapist told them it was a terrible idea.
Directed by Olivier Award-nominated Ben Duke, Juliet & Romeo takes on our cultural obsession with youth and our inevitable issues with longevity.
The Draw
“Smart, wryly subversive and sexy…they dance and talk their way through a blissfully wry, subverted version of Romeo and Juliet.”

Reviews
“Duke’s handling of this material is beautifully assured. His writing is fast, inventive and smart; the interleaving of movement, text and music (mostly a selection of pop classics) is expertly paced.”
–The Guardian
“Superb. Devastating realism and dark humour.”
—The Stage
“Insightful, funny and rich…Smoulders with equal parts lust and loathing.”
— Time Out
“Squirmingly funny and no less heartbreaking.”
—The Times
